SEO is one of the best means to reach your target audience and the most important strategy is to rank high for your preferred words on the main search engines.

2. Write a Description META Tag.
3. Include Your Keywords in Header Tags H1, H2, H3.
4. Make Sure Your Keywords Are in the First Paragraph of Your Body Text.
5. Make Your Navigation System Search Engine Friendly.
6. Develop Several Pages Focused on Particular Keywords.

8. Fine-tune with search engine positioning.

14. Promote using traditional media.

We certainly haven't exhausted ways to promote your site, but these will get you started. To effectively market your site, you need to spend some time adapting these strategies to your own market and capacity.
The basic distinction between a search engine and a web directory is inclusion; i.e. a search engine crawl the websites using its own software and then indexes the web links according the relevance. Whereas in web directory you need to submit, your links manually under a suitable category then those links are reviewed by human editors. There are millions of web directories available in internet, which accepts websites links under the appropriate category, and these links are reviewed by the trained and experienced reviewers who evaluate the links accordingly. Therefore, it is easy to find a website link under appropriate category.
