Evolution of the Website Design

by: lorenarnolds on Date: Tue, 14 Dec 2010 Time: 1:31 PM

In the early days of the World Wide Web, few people consider web design as a hobby or even a field of work. Those who were involved during its infancy were purely technical people who only thought of sharing information across the internet, even if it meant viewing a website filled with just text.

Years later, the people working behind the World Wide Web structure decided that websites shouldn't be static. You can compare that to an interactive CD-ROM, which you won't be able to go beyond that compared to the internet today. Websites were written using Hypertext Markup Language; this gave the websites a basic structure like having headings and paragraphs. Hyperlinks were also introduced to help you navigate through pages and other websites.

Web design together with the Web progressed. HTML became more complex but flexible as well. The ability to add images and tables to a page was a big change to web design. Tables were originally intended for tabulating information but were also used to create layouts after some time. However, that feature became outdated with the advent of cascading style sheets also known as CSS.

Websites designed through CSS gave websites an overhaul due to its flexibility and limitless possibility of designs available in using it. Communities like the World Wide Web Consortium create standards to unleash the full potential of the Web. Since then several website design companies have been established due to the demand for this kind of work.

With all these information in mind, having a website of your own is very easy. You can ask for free quote from Cincinnati website design companies for more information about their products and services. Always check their portfolio to be sure.
