Using Professional Photographs on your web site

by: birdiemaule on Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2012 Time: 11:55 PM

You know you need a good web site to attract business but what sort of impression do you want to make on the visitors? After all, you wouldn't visit a new client wearing tatty, dirty clothes, with gravy stains, so why would you risk putting off a web site visitor with fuzzy, badly lit photographs?

The best web design in the world can be ruined by using poor images but, fortunately, there is help available to get the best pictures, that really show your products or services off at their most desirable. You will find that using professional photography is one of the most economic ways to enhance your reputation, as a good photographer will develop an understanding of your business and use his skill and experience to get the right angles and show it off in the best light. Using a load of cheap stock images, which a competitor may also have used, can damage your brand, corporate identity and image of the company, which will cost a lot more than using a professional photographer.

Speaking of light, that is really the key element that a good photographer will use to lift your images off the screen and make your site more memorable. This skill will make products look clearer, more three dimensional and easier for buyers to understand. Sometimes it's a good idea to use 'lifestyle' pictures, so that your buyers can visualise themselves enjoying use of the product in real situations. This provides engagement and makes the visitor more likely to buy.

Using a good photo as a background can also give your website an added visual element, as well as depth and space. On the other side of things, if the photo is poor quality or unappealing, it can bring down the entire look of the web page. Good photography will work to really make the website stand out.

As business becomes more competitive than ever and more companies are selling similar products, the need to differentiate yourself, with high quality imagery is even more important. Not only that, but creating an easy, enjoyable experience tempts visitors to return more frequently and recommend your web site to others.
