Getting over a bad interview

Sometimes we are overconfident and feel that we can handle a job interview. In our overconfidence we make a complete mess of the interview. It’s easy to blame our poor performance to surrounding situations but that won’t really help your job hunt.
Campus Freshers http://campusfreshers.in shares with you ways of how to turn your bad interview into a stepping stone towards a job winning interview:
There is a simple 3 c check you need to do at the first place
1. Communication Check
This is one of the primary reasons of having a bad interview. You may possess all the skill sets needed for a job but if you are not able to communicate about it, then you cannot sell yourself. Communication is important to ensure that your interviewer knows that he is interviewing the right person. Communication with English as a language is standard. Use of grammar to build meaningful sentences, proper communication that can be easily be understood by the interviewer is essential. A Communication Checklist should help you evaluate whether
- You are good at English?
- Do you write well?
- Do you speak well?
- Is your resume well written?
- Is the interviewer able to understand what you say?
2. Competency Check
Having the right skill set for the job is always the first scoring criteria. If you do not possess the right skill set and caliber for the job you applied, the interviewer is not really interested in your profile. Competence includes the desired experience for the post, the educational qualification, certification and recommendations. It is good to go through a checklist that helps you evaluate
- Your skill set v/s desired skill set
- Your educational Qualification v/s desired qualification
- Your experience v/s desired experience
- Your competency v/s desired competency
3. Compensation Check
Being rewarded for the job performed is the final expectation of an employee. As a candidate who is being interviewed you need to well understand the compensation model that the company follow. Compensation model also includes work time, leave policies, HR policies, Payroll and incentives. One of the reasons why there is a bad interview is because the compensation model is not acceptable by the candidate and sometimes candidate’s demands are not acceptable by the employer. By having a self compensation check you will be able to evaluate what your expectation are as compared to the job opening compensation model.
CONCLUSION
You will not always have the interview of a lifetime. But you will find that the more effort you put into learning from interviews, the fewer interviews you will need before you find a job.
