Running your own Online business isn't as straight forward as some might think. There are a lot of misconceptions about making money online. Online business has been booming for years and will continue to boom so there are plenty of people wanting there share of this market.
If we could get true statistics you will see that more people fail than succeed making a successful business online. For some reason there's a perception out there that online business doesn't take much work, this is so untrue because like any business in any industry to be truly successful it takes hard work and dedication.

A few Myths below about online businesses challenged.

Guaranteed Success
Not even a proven business like a MacDonalds can guarantee you success so why would a new online business be any different. There are always risks in any new business venture.
One of the biggest challenges in any new business especially a online business is competition, there is a lot of competition especially in proven markets like MML, Weight Loss, ebooks, making money online etc. Do yourself a favor and Google “Diets” - how many results ??
You need to target untapped markets with new and exciting marketing ideas. You need to stand out and be unique.

Professional Advice
Take the advice from so called guru's experts and pros, if they've made money then they know something, but at the end of the day it will be up to you and the effort you put in. If anyone tells you, you will be successful overnight without hard work then I am afraid they are not being truthful.

Huge Budgets for Advertising
The internet is luckily one of those industry's which offer a number of Free advertising options, having an advertising budget will obviously help generate traffic etc. but it's not completely necessary. There are plenty of classified sites which you can advertise for free with. Article marketing is another free popular advertising medium.

You Don't need a Website
You don't have to be a multi-national corporate to have a website. Even your neighborhood handyman will use a website to promote his business.
You don't need to spend thousands on your website, but having a professional website doesn't hurt. Would you do business or purchase something from a website that looks crummy and unprofessional ? I wouldn't.
Your website can help you collect clients and potential clients contact details for future communications for sending out specials etc.
Your website will help your CRM part of your business, it's always easier to sell to someone who has bought from you in the past, as long as you have a decent product. Another important aspect of a website is that you can setup secure payment options, which will help avoid being scammed.
