The Importance of Ad Agencies in the Ever-Evolving Web 2.0 World

by: rosafmzl@aol.com on Date: Wed, 22 Dec 2010 Time: 9:04 PM

Are you a business owner? What kind of business do you run? Is it a restaurant, a night club, a construction company, or an electrical or plumbing company? How about a floral shop, or a bakery, or maybe a thrift store? Whatever type of business you own, the key to having a successful business is not only to secure a good location, but to also advertise in smart, cost-effective ways. Where and how you spend your advertising dollars is important and oftentimes easily wasted on under-performing advertising campaigns that are money-losing propositions.

So how do you know where to spend your marketing budget? That's where advertising agencies come into play. Ad agencies can help you understand to the optimal channels you should be spending your marketing dollars so that each dollar works harder and goes farther. Given the explosion of marketing channels popping up these days with the advent of Web 2.0, working with ad agencies can help you determine the optimal channels to be deploying your money. The good news is that there are plenty of outsourced marketing firms you can turn to that will take the time to figure out your best area of focus.

Marketing smart while using each medium is also important in today's sophisticated marketing world. For example, there are dozens of popular social networking sites you can choose from. Even though one site may be more popular than others, it might make more sense to advertise on the lesser known sites if their smaller community contains a larger percentage of your target audience. While reaching the most people possible sounds exciting, you instead need to think about reaching the right people.

For example, a newspaper may send out 100,000 issues a day; however that does not always mean your ad will be reaching 100,000 people a day. How many people actually buy that newspaper? How many people read the section your ad will be placed in? How many people will actually even pay attention to your ad? And, most importantly, who cares if anyone is reading your ad at all if they are not going to have an interest in what you are selling. This is the kind of information and insight that marketing firms can provide to help you make the smart choices when it comes to your advertising dollars.

Basic marketing isn't rocket science, but if you're making a substantial investment into marketing and you want your business to achieve a significant ROI, it's highly advisable to seek the assistance of a professional advertising agency or marketing firm to guide you through the process.
