Things You Can Do to Make Local Business Listings a Goldmine

by: franzperrigo on Date: Wed, 4 May 2011 Time: 10:02 AM

Most of the business owners today take advantage of major local listing sites to increase their profits. However, only few people really understand and effectively implement SEO due to its time-consuming, complicated, and expensive technicalities. Fortunately, there are still some SEO related things which ordinary people can do to increase business presence online.

Claim and Improve your Company’s Profile Listing.

If your business does not have an online profile yet, this is the right time to create and claim one. It is also possible that someone have already created a listing for you, which you just need to claim and improve. Chances are they have created a profile for your business because they were happy with your services and they want to tell the world about your company or that they were so disappointed with your services that they want to discourage others. If it’s the latter case, claim the listing and give it positive reviews to balance your company’s reputation.

Add relevant pictures to your web pages.

Local listing sites are not just mere phonebooks and they want to offer enhanced experience to their users. Photos are important components of a web page, for they add an interactive appeal to a site. Do not worry of whether they are commercially perfect; consumers love real life ones more.

Add substantial videos to your website.

If pictures give that much of an appeal to the consumers, videos are equally an above-and-beyond feature. A lot of business owners found it very helpful to embed videos of customer testimonials to their sites. These videos increase their chances of being found by the majority of their target market. In general, your website won’t go wrong if there is a video embedded into its local business listing.

Manage your Published Information.

The information you publish in your website pages makes the impression of your business. Therefore, it is important that you only publish what is true about your company. Tack down all your local business listings to claim your positive profile and correct the untrue and negative reviews.

Create lots of customer reviews.

The credibility of your company lies on the reviews that your customers write about you, which are published in the major local business listing service sites. Thus, it is important to ask your valued customers to write positive reviews for your profile accounts, so that you will get listed on top of the competition.
