With the flood of ezines on the Web these days, it is getting increasingly more difficult to gain the attention of potential subscribers. In order to boost subscriptions to your ezine you must continually search for ways to generate traffic to your subscription page. While ezine ads and pay-per-click search engines can be helpful, there is one strategy that is proving to be both reliable and affordable.

"Co-registration" is a simple concept that is taking the 'Net by storm. This method of generating traffic to your publication involves placing a short ad for your ezine on other Web sites that reach the same audience you want to reach. Beside the ad is a quick and easy "checkbox" that allows prospective readers to automatically subscribe to your newsletter.

Co-registrations normally work in two ways. You can buy subscribers, or you can barter for them. Many sites offer co-registration services for sale. The cost is usually between $0.10 and a few dollars per subscriber. You can search your favorite engine for "ezine co-registration" to find such companies. However, if your wallet is a little threadbare, you can also successfully use the barter method.

Approaching other ezine publishers is a great way to generate traffic for your subscription page. Again, search engines can help. Type in "ezine directories" and you'll find a large list of sites that compile ezine information. Contact several whose audience is similar to yours and arrange for an "ad swap" of sorts. Place your ad on their "thank you" page, and allow them to place their ad on yours.

Another approach to bartering comes in the form of pop-up windows. Several sites offer the service of supplying a co-registration page in the form of a pop-up or pop-under window. The windows run throughout a network of Web sites. Each time a visitor clicks on your subscription page, a pop-up window will show. A visitor can select any or all of the ezines shown on the screen to subscribe to by simply clicking a few checkboxes and filling in his/her email address.

These programs have a multi-level marketing base in that you must sign people up for the free service under your "down line" in order to earn "views" for your ezine on other Web sites. The more views you receive, the more potential you have for gaining subscribers. To get additional information, just search for "ezine subscriber pop up" on your favorite engine.

Co-registration techniques effectively fill one of the most universal needs that ezine publishers have. getting the word out. With the added exposure you gain from co-registration pages, traffic to your ezine's site (and subscriptions to your publication) will increase tremendously!
