The reason for the card? Well, here's what it said: "Our Birthday Sale is coming in October! "We'll let everyone know via e-mail, but since we don't have your e-mail address, we'll miss you!" This was followed by an invitation to e-mail the company's sales department with my e-mail address and customer number, which appeared just above my name on the address side of the card. Well, did The Passionate Postcarder dash over to her computer and fire off an e-mail with that information? No. Why not? Because I'm not in the market for any more furniture. At least not yet. But I have corresponded with this company about purchasing an office desk. (That postcard spurred me into action!) I plan to buy said desk within the next year. Okay, now here's the part where Martha gets to The Point of This Story. (Yes, I do have one!) I think the idea of publicizing a big sale with a postcard asking for customer e-mail addresses is pretty clever. It's a simple process: You send card requesting e-mail addresses and customer numbers. Customers respond by e-mailing you this information. You e-mail them the info about your sale. Combining postcards with another marketing tool is a powerful way to leverage your mailings. Learn more handy techniques like this one in the Postcard Marketing Secrets downloadable manual!
