How Websites Work: Web Development and Hosting

by: elliottharvell on Date: Wed, 22 Dec 2010 Time: 12:47 PM

The Internet is an efficient tool for communication. It allows people to communicate regardless of time and distance. The Internet is also used for marketing and advertising. Companies and business entrepreneurs create their own websites. Websites enable them to reach a wide range of audience. For instance, Florida marketing firms are able to sell products in Washington and California.

Do you ever wonder how websites are created? Websites are created by web developers. Web developers design web templates. They create designs and layouts for their clients. They use Java, cascading style sheets (CSS), and hypertext markup language (HTML). These are the most commonly used programming languages for web development. They conceptualize web themes with website owners. They make strategies and tactics to enhance appearance and content of websites.

Websites are a compilation of web pages. Web pages serve as page sheets on the Internet. They are connected by hyperlinks and links. These are distinguished by Uniform Resource Locators (URLs). URLs are internet addresses of websites. They start with www and http://. URL differentiates various websites. They end with domain names. The most widely-used domain names are .com, .gov, and .educ.

Domain names indicate the nature of websites. Website owners obtain URLs from web hosts. Web hosts designate URLs and internet protocol (IP) address to different website owners. Like URLs, IP addresses distinguish websites from one another. They serve as an automatic locator for web hosts. When you type an IP address in a reseller hosting cpanel, a specific website will appear. This helps web hosting companies track down spam e-mails. Likewise, they are helpful in blocking web accounts and websites.

There are two categories of web hosts. These are administrators and resellers. Administrators provide reseller hosting cpanel to resellers. Cpanels are used in managing multiple websites. They contain programs and interfaces. These allow resellers to create, modify, delete, and restore websites. Generally, reseller cpanels are included in a web hosting management (WHM) package. Administrators offer various WHM selections to resellers.

Most WHM packages are composed of various hosting features. These are basic cpanel setup, XML download, remote access keys, domain listings, plug-ins, and web template editors. These allow web hosts to maintain graphics and Java applications in web pages. Administrators limit operation of resellers in a reseller hosting cpanel.
